Today its the year 2026 and the game came in the year 2001 so its 25 years today. It came in the same year as the 9/11 attack which is the 11 September attack when the World Trade Centre building got terrorized by a plane crash into the buildings.
World Trade Center buildings in GTA III
This is the Lips 106 Headquarter which is a reference of the World Trade Center buildings but its more similar to the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
